Opening in 2021, South Launceston Early Learning employs almost 40 staff and caters for over 90 children aged from six weeks to six years of age. Positioned in the Door of Hope complex run by the Churches of Christ, facilities include the Hope Discovery Family Centre, a therapy centre, a cafe and various other support services. The centre works with a variety of community agencies that work/help to provide the highest quality education and care for children to give them the best start in life.
Facilities at the centre include an on-site chef, unique indoor and outdoor play spaces, a Junior Masterchef Program, and a range of animals to meet.
South Launceston Early Learning embraces an inclusive and holistic approach to education and care, including offering natural, diverse and challenging spaces to encourage children to negotiate risk, play in creative and imaginative ways, and develop positive relationships with other children. This approach builds confidence, an understanding of the world around them, and prepares children for a love of lifelong learning.
“I have been working in the childcare sector for the past 20 years, and during that time, have had many different roles. My current role as Director of South Launceston Early learning is immensely important to me. Together with my team, I work hard at building strong relationships with our children, families and the community. All children are unique and our team strive to deliver high-quality care and educational programs that support children’s individuality. When I’m not working, my other passions in life are bushwalking, camping, enjoying the great outdoors, and spending quality time with my family and friends.”

Outdoor play is also important for children’s development, and the centre’s facilities are fantastic. The team treat our children like family, and create a warm, nurturing and supportive atmosphere which is vital for their emotional well-being. Its quality educators are wonderful and my child just loves attending the centre.”
“My grandson, Charlie, absolutely loves going to South Launceston Early Learning. Sometimes I even have to wait for him to come with me to go home, because he is having so much fun! The staff who work there are all such a delight, from the wonderful educators to the chef who prepares the amazing food. The children get to do so many activities, including interacting with live animals.”
“I am incredibly grateful for the dedication and compassion the centre’s staff show my daughter, Malia. She has built such beautiful friendships over the years and is thriving. Hearing her recount the beautiful experiences she’s had during the day, supported by the wonderful stories and photos you provide, fills my heart with joy and reassurance.”
South Launceston Early Learning respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn and develop through play. South Launceston Early Learning pays respect to elders past, present, and emerging, and the Stoney Creek Nation clans. The Tyerenotepanner; Panninher and Lettermairrener peoples lived along the riverways in harmony with the seasons for several thousand generations, and today they are remembered as the traditional owners of this land. We celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
